It is unfortunate that millionaire Steve Fossett is missing. On the other hand, I do not understand all of the media coverage of his disappearance. He did not discover a cure for cancer or the origin of the universe. In fact, I think he was merely a rich person who loved having the attention of anyone who had little else to do.
That's all I have to say.

I'm not sure he got recognized in the media for being rich. I thought it was b/c of his world records - including the one for 5 nonstop circumnavigations of the Earth: as a long-distance solo balloonist, as a sailor, and as a solo airplane pilot.
In total, Fossett has set 116 records in five different sports, 60 of which still stand.
I would rather hear about someone who found a cure for cancer in the papers, but this is still an interesting read (despite the tragedy).
